LAN:-
- Local area network are most commonly used by the organizations
- The organizations need to connect multiple Lan's together to extended networks
- The networking devices include hubs, switches, Routhers and gateways.
- These devices interconnect the systems linked into large, spread out groups of lan’s.
- The reduces the number of nodes on a network and so network traffic is also reduced.
- The networking devices also provide security by restricting individuals to specified resources and increase the system reliability.
WAN:-
- A wide area network (WAN) is a network that exists over a large-scale geographical area.
- A WAN connects different smaller networks, including local area networks (LAN) and Metro area networks (MAN).
- This ensures that computers and users in one location can communicate with computers and users in other locations.
MAN:-
- A metropolitan area network (MAN) is similar to a local area network (LAN) but spans an entire city or campus.
- MAN's are formed by connecting multiple LAN's.
- Thus, MAN's are larger than LAN's but smaller than wide area networks (WAN)
